Picture Format#55

?

I would love to be able to change the picture format from full frame, to square or wide screen while I frame a picture, not in a post process. The format is really part of the framing process when you take a picture.
Thanks

16:9 please !!!!!

Absolutely agree that widescreen or 16x9 should be implemented! Honestly, it’s hard to believe it doesn’t exist already. There simply is ZERO chance I’m going to take my Fjorden on vacation only to capture a format that is so 2000’s / early digital camera era (and I don’t care how much Apple loves the 4x3 format!). Voting for features is cool but tmrw will mark FIVE MONTHS that I have had my Fjorden and 16x9 still does not exist. I’m sorry to be so direct but this is simply unacceptable. Never figured I would have to suggest something that should be a default option.

We haven’t added a picture format setting, because we are not a fan of throwing away photo information, that can’t be recovered later. You can always crop the photo to 16:9 later.

But we hear you. To help with composition, we will add a 16:9 grid option. We will discuss actually pre-cropping the photo further.

Thank you!

For (polite!) argument sake… in the end, it should really be the user’s choice of how they want their photo to look / appear (ie: 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, or 1:1.); regardless of what that means in the sense of keeping or throwing away photo information.

If it’s not, you are actively choosing to alienate a much larger audience (future success / relevance?) than the original Kickstarter individuals. That (future) group is very likely not willing to accept any shortcomings they see or even purchase Fjorden in the first place. Again, they won’t care about the academic discussion of throwing away photo information. What I mean is…

For mass adoption of Fjorden (beyond the initial Kickstarter group) and its long-term success, because you’re going to run out of photog-paying-geeks & need to appeal to the masses (including amateurs who have no idea about throwing away photo information, or even care about that): All they want is a photo to remember a moment in time, the way they want to remember it (something that doesn’t have to be cropped with an editing program), and/or that can be uploaded to their favorite online developing service and picked up in an hour or the next day.

If you don’t market to them, I very sincerely believe that Fjorden has an incredibly short run at success / limited future. And Fjorden is phenomenal! What a great design! What a brilliant thought process – as seen through the videos created by the team! Serious thought went into this thing, yet… only to have its future possibly limited by its SOFTWARE shortcomings. (And self-inflicted.)

I apologize for being so long in the tooth. I hope that Fjorden is not a “one & done” product. I hope it has a very long & bright future, with many generations, and I hope you can tell that by my posts. I welcome a current shift in paradigm as it really could guide the future.

So happy to hear that you are working on adding aspect ratios that will aid in framing.

It appears that this product needs ventura capital. The Video- instructions are only seconds in length and many almost a year old.
Creating up to date PDF’s is time consuming.Time is money…..

I neded this product because of mobility issues. One stick needed for balance makes only one arm, hand available to make images. Yea right….

Would it be possible to dim the areas outside of the 16:9 and 1x1 grid option for those who want to compose for those frames but still retain the information outside of the frame?

24x65 (or something like 2.39:1) would be great!

And “crickets”

I shoot hundreds of photos for ebay. I need 1:1 format to shoot, can’t take time to crop every photo. I purchased all the Moment lenses a few years ago to use for my eBay business, but they didn’t and still don’t support this feature, which makes then useless to me. I won’t purchase Fjorden until this is supported.
